About the Role
Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg is seeking an experienced Maintenance Officer to join the team. This position is available for an immediate start and the successful applicant will secure permanent full-time employment.
Reporting to the Engineering Services Manager, the Maintenance Officer is responsible for carrying out general repairs and maintenance across hospital buildings, plant, equipment, services and grounds. This position requires a proactive individual who can work both independently and collaboratively while delivering high-quality customer service and maintaining a strong focus on safety.
Salary range: $38.36 - $44.23 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What You'll Be Doing
- Performing general maintenance and repair activities across hospital facilities, equipment and infrastructure.
- Completing maintenance tasks and work orders within agreed timeframes and service level expectations.
- Supporting planned and preventative maintenance programs to ensure the reliability of facilities and equipment.
- Maintaining accurate electronic and manual maintenance records, logs and registers.
- Assisting with the upkeep and presentation of external areas, gardens and grounds.
- Ensuring plant rooms, workshops and maintenance areas remain clean, safe and organised.
- Identifying faults, hazards and equipment issues, taking appropriate action to make areas safe and arrange repairs.
- Communicating effectively with clinical and non-clinical teams to minimise disruption to hospital operations.
- Following workplace health and safety requirements, policies, procedures and legislative obligations.
- Supporting contractor inductions and ensuring compliance requirements are met.
- Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork and outstanding customer service.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience maintaining large facilities, including public buildings, plant, equipment and associated services.
- A current C Class Manual Driver's Licence.
- Strong knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements, including permit-to-work systems and isolation procedures.
- The ability to work autonomously, use initiative and solve maintenance-related issues effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across a diverse organisation.
- A commitment to safety, customer service and maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Relevant trade qualifications or certificates relating to building, grounds, plant or equipment maintenance.
- Previous experience in a healthcare, hospital or similar complex operational environment.
