About the role

Mater Audiology Department Cochlear Implant Clinic has an exciting opportunity for casual experienced Audiologist to join the team.

Mater's Audiology Department deliver specialised audiology services with a strong focus on cochlear implantation, supporting a large cochlear implant program that includes candidacy assessment, device programming (mapping), post-operative management, rehabilitation, and long-term recipient follow-up. In addition, the team provides specialised diagnostic audiology and vestibular assessment services for patients with hearing and balance disorders. The service is predominantly outpatient-based and includes a private paediatric audiology clinic.

Salary range: $41.06 - $60.35 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

As an Audiologist you will deliver high quality, evidence based, and comprehensive audiological clinical services as part of a multidisciplinary team to stakeholders/customers of Mater. Responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:

  • Deliver quality audiology clinical services with a focus on audiological assessment and management of cochlear implant candidates and recipients across the continuum of care
  • Liaise with patients, other health professionals, supervisors, students and researchers to achieve outstanding outcomes
  • Accurately and concisely record all patient interaction and service data in line with departmental guidelines
  • Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning and by engaging in professional development activities
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision to less experienced staff and students

About you

The ideal candidate will have Tertiary (post-graduate) qualification in Audiology, from a recognised tertiary institution and eligibility for accreditation as an audiologist in Australia with a recognised professional body

  • Eligibility for a Medicare provider number
  • Demonstrated experience in cochlear implant candidacy assessment, post implant device programming, outcome evaluation and long term audiological management of cochlear implant recipients
  • Demonstrated clinical practice and application of clinical judgement in the provision of high quality, evidence based patient centred care
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team to deliver quality clinical services
  • Work co-operatively and effectively within the Audiology Department and a multidisciplinary team and with patients/clients
