About the role
Mater Health is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Speech Pathologist to join our Adult Speech Pathology team at our South Brisbane campus. This permanent opportunity is available up to full-time hours, with flexibility in appointment hours based on the successful candidate(s).
Our Adult Speech Pathology service provides specialist assessment and intervention for adults with communication, cognitive-communication, voice and swallowing disorders arising from a broad range of neurological, medical, surgical, oncological and critical care conditions. Working within a highly respected multidisciplinary environment, you will provide advanced clinical care while contributing to leadership, education, research and service development initiatives.
Salary range: $66.58 - $71.64 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a Senior Speech Pathologist, you will:
- Independently manage a complex caseload across inpatient and outpatient services.
- Deliver advanced assessment and intervention for neurogenic communication disorders, cognitive-communication disorders, voice disorders and complex dysphagia.
- Provide specialist expertise in tracheostomy management and instrumental swallowing assessment (VFSS and/or FEES).
- Act as a recognised clinical resource within your area of expertise.
- Provide supervision, mentoring and education to speech pathologists, allied health assistants and students.
- Lead and contribute to quality improvement, research and service development initiatives.
- Support operational activities including service coordination, workflow management and clinical service planning.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Speech Pathology.
- Current membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
- Eligibility for a Medicare Provider Number.
- Advanced clinical expertise in complex dysphagia management.
- Demonstrated experience in tracheostomy management across acute, ICU and rehabilitation settings.
- Advanced competency in the assessment and management of neurogenic communication disorders.
- Experience assessing and managing complex voice disorders.
- Expertise in VFSS and/or FEES interpretation.
- Strong leadership, supervision and mentoring skills.
- A commitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement and patient-centred care.
