About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane is looking for an experienced Clinical Facilitator - ICU to join the team in this full-time parental leave maximum-term contract based at our South Brisbane campus.

The Clinical Facilitator ICU role provides expert clinical guidance and learning and development activities through the application of best practice, education and portfolio management. Clinical Facilitators also provide direct and indirect support and supervision to clinicians to promote and facilitate positive clinical outcomes and High Value Healthcare. Clinical Facilitators work predominantly within a clinical area / specialty and demonstrate advanced clinical practice skills and knowledge to deliver a variety of education activities, which meet the needs of individuals, clinical workplaces and the organisation.

In consultation with the Nurse Unit Manager and the Education Coordinator, the Clinical Facilitator will plan, deliver and evaluate clinical education to meet current and emergent Mater staff learning needs and support staff to work at top of scope. Through effective collaboration and communication, the Clinical Facilitator will operationalise relevant Strategic and Operational plans.

Salary range: $57.48 - $61.55 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As a Clinical Facilitator - ICU within Mater Health, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Supporting professional development of nursing team through education and delivering safe, quality patient care
  • In response to identified learning needs, plan, develop, implement and evaluate clinical learning and development opportunities to meet knowledge, skill and/or behavioural deficits; support staff to work to top of scope; and increase workforce capacity and capability.
  • Coordinating unit and organisational objectives related to education, safety standards, policies, and best practice models
  • Implementing and evaluating new policies and models of care
  • Providing clinical facilitation and monitoring of education initiatives
  • Ensuring compliance with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards

About you

The successful candidate will have a minimum three years of recent clinical experience working as an ICU Registered Nurse.

  • Post graduate qualifications in specialty and/or education highly desirable or a willingness to work towards achieving
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical facilitation and preceptorship
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or willingness to work towards achieving
  • High Level communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Strong focus on professional self-development and that of others
