About the role
Mater Mothers’ Hospital is seeking an experienced and compassionate Clinical Midwife to join the Perinatal Loss Team on a permanent part time basis, 24 hours per week.
This specialist service provides trauma-informed, family-centred care to families experiencing stillbirth, neonatal death and complex pregnancy loss, alongside continuity of care in subsequent pregnancies. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the role supports inpatient and outpatient care coordination, bereavement support, follow-up planning, pregnancy after loss care, and collaboration with clinical governance and investigation pathways.
Salary range: $57.48 - $61.55 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the current Clinical Midwife, and duties will include:
Coordinating care for bereaved families
Direct care and support to grieving families
Provision of ongoing bereavement support following discharge
Involvement in perinatal mortality audit processes, and
Participation in quality assurance activities
About you
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife (no restrictions)
Considerable previous midwifery experience
A genuine interest in perinatal loss support
Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of midwifery practice
Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care within the multidisciplinary team
An ability to work autonomously and function as a member of a small delivery team
Commitment to the continuous improvement of health care and midwifery practice, and to continuing professional development of self and others.
