About the role
Mater Private Hospital Townsville is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Paediatric team on a casual basis. Working within a supportive and family-centred environment, you will provide high-quality care to infants, children and adolescents across a range of medical and surgical specialties. This role operates across a 24/7 rotating roster, and successful applicants must be available to work morning, afternoon and night shifts.
Our dedicated Paediatrics Unit provides specialised medical and surgical care for babies, children and adolescents in a welcoming, family-centred environment. From admission through to recovery, we work closely with both children and their families, explaining procedures in a simple and reassuring way to ease concerns and build confidence. We provide expert care across a range of specialties, including dental, ear, nose and throat (ENT), general surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, plastic surgery and urology, ensuring the highest standard of care for our young patients.
Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

About you
We are searching for a nurse with a passion for Paediatric care to seamlessly join the team and hit-the-ground-running, continuing your nursing career and providing exceptional care for our patients and their families from day one. As such, you will possess:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
- Minimum 12 months post graduate experience in a acute hospital setting
- Demonstrated paediatric nursing experience is desirable but not essential
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and clinical problem-solving skills
- Strong paediatric focus and passion for providing family centred care
- The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- A commitment to learn and develop your skills and commitment to the continued quality improvement and best practice principles within your role
