About the role 

Mater Clinical Education Team is seeking an experienced PACU Clinical Nurse or Registered Nurse to join the team in a permanent part-time Clinical Facilitator position working 32 hours per week based at South Brisbane. 

The PACU Clinical Facilitator will work closely with the Education Coordinator to support the delivery of education strategies aligned with Mater Health’s Strategic and Operational Plans. The role has a strong focus on supporting graduate nurses and departmental staff through clinical education, facilitation, competency development and ongoing professional development. 

You will promote and implement best practice and evidence-based care, foster critical thinking and clinical problem-solving, and support consistency and excellence in care delivery through a robust practice development and education model. 

Salary range: $57.48 - $61.55 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits!  

What you’ll be doing 

As the PACU Clinical Facilitator, you will be responsible for: 

• Supporting the professional development of graduate nurses and the broader PACU nursing team, with a strong commitment to education and the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based patient care. 

• Providing clinical facilitation, coaching and support to graduates as they develop specialty knowledge, clinical competence and confidence in PACU practice. 

• Coordinating, delivering and monitoring unit-based and organisational education, including mandatory and role-requisite education. 

• Supporting competency assessment and progression of staff within the PACU environment. 

• Contributing to National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards initiatives and other organisational education and quality priorities. 

• Supporting the review and implementation of policies, procedures, education initiatives and models of care. 

• Identifying, implementing and evaluating evidence-based practice and opportunities for continuous improvement within PACU. 

• Working collaboratively with the Education Coordinator, clinical leadership and multidisciplinary team to identify and respond to the educational needs of the department. 

About you 

You will have a minimum of three years of recent clinical experience working as a PACU Facilitator, Clinical Nurse or Registered Nurse within the perioperative environment. Experience in obstetrics is highly desirable. 

You will also demonstrate: 

• Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant specialty and/or education highly desirable. 

• Experience in clinical facilitation, education and preceptorship. 

• High-level communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. 

• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also working effectively and independently. 

• A strong commitment to your own professional development and the development of others. 

• Desirable: TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or willingness to work towards achieving this qualification.
