About the role

Mater Private Hospital Mackay has an exciting opportunity for a customer-focused Administrator to join our team in a casual position. In this role you will be providing high-quality administrative support while contributing to the delivery of exceptional service for our patients, visitors and clinical teams.

Working closely with the Administration Team Leader/Manager and wider multidisciplinary team, you will proactively manage a range of administrative, business support and coordination activities. You will work with a degree of autonomy, balancing competing priorities while maintaining a strong focus on patient experience, data quality, operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

Salary range: $39.79 – $44.25 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing a high level of administrative support to clinical and operational teams.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, medical practitioners and staff.
  • Managing reception activities, including patient admissions and discharges.
  • Conducting health fund eligibility checks and processing patient payments.
  • Supporting bookings, appointments, admissions and course enrolments.
  • Assisting with banking reconciliation, purchasing and inventory management.
  • Coordinating maintenance requests and general operational support activities.
  • Performing clinical transcription, records management and patient information requests.
  • Monitoring and maintaining data quality, identifying and correcting discrepancies as required.
  • Supporting rostering activities in line with relevant work instructions and enterprise agreements.

About you

  • Exceptional customer service skills and a patient-centred approach.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyse information to identify issues and implement solutions.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and healthcare information systems.
  • Well-developed problem-solving, decision-making and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience working within a hospital, healthcare or medical setting (desirable)
  • Knowledge of health information systems and patient administration processes.
