About the role
The Mater Hospital Administration team has an opportunity available for an Administration Officer to join the Mater Cancer Care Centre (MCCC) Team.
We have a casual position available based at Mater’s South Brisbane Campus.
The Administration Officer plays a key role in the delivery of exceptional service to Mater patients, families and staff. The core function of this role is to support the daily administrative and operational requirements of the ward, with a strong focus on operational efficiency, service delivery and business support.
Salary range: $32.02 - $37.35 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As an Administration Officer, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the ward while helping to create an exceptional experience for patients, families and staff. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will provide high-quality administrative support that contributes to the smooth and efficient delivery of healthcare services.
- Manage a variety of administrative tasks such as but not limited to reception, data entry, document preparation, records management while ensuring all information is accurate and kept confidential.
- Coordination between incoming and outgoing correspondence, support administration processes and assist with service improvement initiatives as required.
- Work closely and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the hospital, building strong relationships and providing responsive support to meet operational needs.
- Be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve processes and contribute to a positive, patient-focused environment where exceptional service is delivered every time
- Continually demonstrate highly developed written communication skills including ability to draft routine correspondence on behalf of the senior management.
- Maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality, complying with administration, and financial policy and procedures, maintaining accurate, current, and accessible files, including maintenance of records of relevant meetings and discussions.

- Support staff training
About you
- Experienced in providing medical administration support.
- Highly developed time management and organisational skills
- Strong computer skills including competence in using Patient Administration systems (or the ability to quickly learn new systems)
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to organise and prioritise work effectively within a busy, fast-paced, demanding environment
- Ability to use Excel
