About the role

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking experienced, motivated and adaptable Registered Nurses to join our Medical and Surgical Wards on a permanent part-time relief roster basis.

Mater Hospital Springfield (MHS) is a contemporary and innovative 80-bed facility incorporating the latest digital technologies, community wellness initiatives, and patient- and family-centered models of care. As Mater’s first new public hospital in over 60 years, opening in early 2026, MHS serves the growing Greater Springfield region with a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, perioperative, day oncology, ICU, maternity, and emergency services — caring for over 200,000 patients annually

Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will be a vital member of the nursing team, delivering exceptional care across medical, rehabilitation, and surgical settings. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Conducting comprehensive and accurate nursing assessments using a structured approach
• Implementing planned evidence-based nursing interventions within your scope of practice
• Acting as a patient advocate by ensuring informed consent prior to procedures
• Promoting a safe, secure, and respectful environment for patients and staff
• Maintaining strict adherence to Infection Control policies and organisational procedures
• Ensuring confidentiality of corporate and patient information
• Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
• Demonstrating clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures relevant to medical, rehabilitation, and surgical patients
• Collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams to provide exceptional care
• Integrating quality and risk management strategies into daily practice
• Maintaining current clinical knowledge and skills to support ongoing professional development

About you

The ideal candidate will have current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions.

• Minimum 2 Years experience in Surgical and Medical ward nursing 
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Adaptable and motivated to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
