The McAuley Ward is a busy medical ward caring for patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. This diverse clinical environment offers excellent opportunities to develop your medical nursing skills while working alongside a highly experienced multidisciplinary team. Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, our Registered Nurses make up a vital and respected part of the nursing team at Mater. Key duties and responsibilities will include:
- Delivering and evaluating evidence‑based nursing care within your scope of practice
- Advocating for patients through education, informed consent, and shared decision‑making
- Act as a patient advocate ensuring patients are informed and consent is gained prior to procedures,
- Contribute to the maintenance of an environment which promotes safety, security and personal integrity of individual patients and groups,
- Maintain and adhere to Infection Control policies and practices,
- Complies with organisational policies, procedures, work instructions and guidelines
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
- Minimum of 1 post grad experience working within an acute medical setting
- Availability to work across a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights and weekends
- High level skills in problem-solving, communication, coordination and time management
- The ability to contribute effectively and efficiently within a busy, multidisciplinary team environment
- Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate patient care and competency in clinical problem solving
- Demonstrated competency in written and verbal communications and the ability to maintain accurate clinical and assessment data
