About the role
Mater Pharmacy have an exciting opportunity for a professional Senior Pharmacy Technician (PBS Revenue and Prescription Management) to join our Pharmacy team in a permanent full-time or part-time position, commencing in January 2025.
Mater Health, Southeast Queensland comprises a unique collection of two public and four private hospitals caring for over 500,000 patients each year. Mater Pharmacy services all inpatient areas, so this represents a fantastic opportunity to make a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of this community and to contribute to a strong, unified, inter-professional Clinical and Dispensary Services team at Mater.
Salary range: $36.68 - $40.09 (Operational Officer Level 4) plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing
This position is based within Pharmacy Administration at our South Brisbane campus and reports to the Director of Pharmacy.
In this position you will work to support the pharmacy team in the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality level of pharmacy service to optimise outcomes for all patients and customers of Mater.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- To provide responsive customer-focused service over the phone, in person and via other methods of communication
- Specialised knowledge of medication funding arrangements including Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme (PBS), private health fund agreements and state government funding arrangements.
- Prescription and dispensing requirements for PBS prescriptions including owing script management, reporting and follow-up with prescribers and staff.
- Support the ex-gratia approval process for High-Cost Drugs used at Mater Health
- Record and comply with departmental KPI’s relevant to the Claims management role.
- Participate in and initiate audit activities as appropriate and when requested.
- Utilisation of HPOS PRODA portal and ability to act as agent in the uploading of PBS Authority Prescription documentation as required.
- Able to supervise and train other staff to use required software and processes to undertake relevant duties.
- Recording, reporting and analysis of data to improve processes using initiative and innovation with limited direction from supervisors.

About you
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Minimum Certificate III or IV in Hospital/Community Pharmacy (or equivalent) is essential to have been completed.
- A professional attitude, effective communication skills and a high level of attention to detail
- Passion for customer service and appreciation of the importance of delivering exceptional service every time.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and the dispensing and prescription requirements for PBS prescriptions.
- Professional, hardworking attitude and willing to work cooperatively and effectively with all team members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Previous relevant work experience is highly desirable
- The flexibility to work occasional additional shifts, including some weekends, public holidays is desirable
