Mater Health is looking for an experienced Director of Pharmacy to join our team at our South Brisbane campus. Reporting to the Executive Director Health Integration and Community Care, this is a permanent, full-time role.
Mater Pharmacy was established in 1930 and is a unique hospital pharmacy service in Australia offering private and public clinical services, sterile and non-sterile compounding, clinical trials, academic teaching and community pharmacy services.
Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
The Director Pharmacy at Mater is responsible for provision of clinical pharmaceutical services and medication into all the South East Queensland (SEQ) Mater Hospitals (Mater Hospital Brisbane, Mater Private Hospital Brisbane, Mater Mothers’ and Mater Mothers’ Private hospitals, Mater Private Hospital Springfield (Stage 1 and soon to be opened Stage 2). Additionally, the role oversees three community pharmacy sites and provides oversight and governance for over 100 clinical trials undertaken at Mater Health campuses. Mater Pharmacy also provides a full vaccination service to staff and the public.
- The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the leadership of Mater Pharmacy including strategy development and monitoring of financial and operational performance. The primary focus of this role is to oversee the provision of high quality, evidence-based pharmacy services that deliver business value and support Mater Health towards its strategic goals.
- The Director of Pharmacy is a member of the Mater’s Health Integration and Community Care (HICC) portfolio leadership team and has direct accountability to the Executive Director, HICC at Mater Health, and through this role provides strong leadership in upholding Mater’s Mission, Vision and Values, aligning the strategic direction of Mater Pharmacy to Mater’s strategic plan. The role ensures optimal performance in service delivery through contemporary commercial approaches to pharmacy provision.
- This role will lead all elements of Mater Pharmacy through the execution of commercially sound processes, systems, staffing and knowledge to achieve quality pharmacy and medicines management services to provide excellence in patient care and experience.
- This role’s internal and external relationships will also contribute to strong business growth and fostering an environment where research and evidence are translated into improved clinical practice for the best possible patient outcomes.
- The Director of Pharmacy collaborates closely with other Mater Leaders to embed an integrated approach to clinical services and strengthen Mater as a whole.
About you
You will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and registration with AHPRA (Pharmacy Board of Australia) and meet the standards in order to practice in Australia. You will also meet the below criteria:
- Demonstration of recognised expertise, knowledge and skills obtained through professional development activities, clinical and business management experience, postgraduate education or formal tertiary clinical pharmacy and/or business qualifications is a key component of this role
- MBA or other relevant post graduate business qualification
- ANZCAP recognition at a consultant level is desirable
