About the role 

Mater Private Hospital Townsville has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Officer to join the team in a permanent, full-time basis.

We are seeking a practical and proactive Handyman to provide maintenance and repair services across our hospital facilities. From general building repairs to preventative maintenance, you'll help ensure our environment remains safe, reliable, and welcoming.

Salary range: $35.23 – 36.53 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing 

•  Deliver maintenance services, projects, and modifications in accordance with relevant OEM recommendations, standards, statutory requirements, regulations and Mater’s procedures and policies.
• Respond to out of hours maintenance activities when requested and participate in on-call or other rosters when required.
• Undertake planning for preventative maintenance, inspections, corrective repair, breakdowns, and overhauls and implement and administer maintenance services in accordance with the approved maintenance plan.
• Monitor and coordinate the maintenance services performed by contractors in accordance with all contracts, leases, service agreements and warranties.
• Ensure all work undertaken complies with relevant Australian Standards, State and Federal laws, and relevant heath guidelines.
• Ensure environmental compliance is maintained for all work and operational practices.

About you 

• Hold the relevant Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) Mechanical Services Licences
• Current manual driver’s license (C Class)
• Experience as handyman/ maintenance officer within in a health services, hospitality or industrial environment (e.g. hospital, power generation, chemical processing, hospitality, municipal).
• Understanding and application of Safe Systems of Work (e.g. Permit to Work, Safe Start Risk Assessment).
• Ability to contribute to an on call roster
