About the role

The Mater Private Hospital Brisbane Intensive Care Unit is looking a Registered Nurse to join the team on a casual basis.

The Mater Private Intensive Care Unit have a friendly and skilled team that excels in caring for a variety of patient groups including complex surgical patients, life-threatening medical conditions and critically ill oncology/haematology patients.

Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hour plus casual loading plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

As a Registered Nurse in ICU, you will have a strong patient-service focus, demonstrated commitment to continued service improvement, willingness to facilitate and encourage cohesive, positive professional relationships and be required to demonstrate problem-solving skills to improve patient care outcomes relevant to the ward.

• Deliver advanced evidence-based nursing care to patients requiring complex interventions such as mechanical ventilation and renal replacement therapy
• Monitor and interpret clinical data, using critical thinking and clinical judgement to problem solve and respond to changes in condition
• Collaborate with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to develop and implement individualised care plans
• Advocate for and communicate effectively with patients and their families throughout complex and often challenging clinical journeys
• Engage in continuous learning and maintain up to date critical care knowledge and skills

About you

• Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years’ post-graduate experience
• Recent working experience in Intensive Care
• Completed an ICU Transition Support Program
• Ability to work a flexible roster consisting of 12-hour shifts day/night
• Be available to work a minimum or 24 hours per week

Highly favourable:

• Graduate Certificate in Intensive Care Nursing
