About the role

Mater’s Finance department has an exciting newly created position for a Treasury Accountant to join us in a permanent and full-time capacity located at our corporate office in Newstead.

Reporting to the Financial Manager Treasury, Tax and Group Reporting, this role will see you responsible for performing cash and investment management functions including forecasting cash flow and managing debt facility obligations to minimise financial risk. You will also complete end to end financial reporting tasks inclusive of monthly and quarterly general ledger reconciliations.

Salary range: $114,746 - $122,915 p/a plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits!  

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead the cash management, debt management, and investment management functions of the Group
  • Develop and maintain banking, lending, and investment relationships
  • Manage portfolio exposures and transaction risks
  • Drive implementation of robust treasury controls
  • Ensure the Group meets its obligations and matches its liabilities with assets
  • Provide strategic advice and updates on cash flow forecasts
  • Prepare day-to-day cash position and oversee bank reconciliations
  • Prepare longer-term cash forecasts and facilitate cash transfers
  • Monitor and administer bank guarantees
  • Assess fees and charges incurred by the Group
  • Manage debt facility obligations and provide monthly reports on Treasury functions
  • Optimize investment returns and minimize cost of capital
  • Develop and maintain Treasury policies
  • Maintain register of authorized signatories
  • Provide subject matter expertise and act independently within guidelines
  • Execute accounting activities and month-end close processes
  • Prepare journal entries and review relevant journals
  • Provide analytical review during reporting processes
  • Prepare reconciliations and statutory reporting disclosures
  • Interpret legislation and regulations as required
  • Review Balance Sheet and P&L reconciliations
  • Design process improvements and implement solutions
  • Oversee intercompany transactions and reconciliations
  • Prepare funding acquittals
  • Assist with preparation of statutory financial statements and tax returns
  • Support external audit process
  • Identify internal control issues and opportunities for improvement
  • Support bank reconciliation process

About you

  • Relevant degree qualification in Economics, Business, Accounting, or Commerce
  • Professional Accounting Qualification (CA/CPA)
  • 2-5 years of financial and treasury accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of finance month-end close process
  • Health-specific or large/complex sector background preferred
  • Highly developed technical accounting skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred
  • Specialized skills and deep domain knowledge
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and anticipate and solve problems
  • Ability to work with diverse teams and support a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial audience
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
