About the role

Join our Group Finance – Funding Casemix & Costing team as a Clinical Costing Analyst in this permanent, full-time opportunity based at our Newstead offices.

This position is crucial in maintaining and improving the patient-level clinical costing system to ensure accurate unit costs for all products and services. This role involves preparing and analysing detailed cost reports to support planning and evidence-based decision making at Mater Hospitals.

Additionally, the Clinical Costing Analyst will play a key role in identifying and implementing opportunities for data and business improvements to align with organisational goals and national reporting requirements.

Salary range: $53.24 - $57.92 (MCA5) per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare services at Mater Hospitals while gaining valuable experience in healthcare finance and analysis.

  • Collect and analyse business data to develop accurate cost allocation rules according to Australian Costing Standards
  • Load and validate data into clinical costing system from various sources
  • Configure and maintain General Ledger in PPM, manage cost centres and accounts
  • Develop data quality audits and reconciliations for all inputs in Costings systems
  • Maintain documentation of data sources, cost allocation rules, and revenue mappings
  • Provide timely and accurate reports with cost-type and margin analysis
  • Undertake ad hoc project work and provide clear and concise reports and insights

About you

The ideal candidate will have a qualification in Health Information Management, Business/Commerce/Accounting, or Information Technology/Data Analytics.

  • Experience in the Healthcare sector, preferably in Finance or Casemix environment
  • Experience in product costing or cost allocation
  • Sound knowledge or ability to quickly learn and apply costing standards, policies, and procedures in Casemix, clinical costing, and benchmarking
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills required, experience with MS Power BI or similar data visualisation tools desirable
  • Understanding of healthcare service delivery processes and clinical business structures
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with personnel at all levels
  • Ability to write concise and accurate reports, documents, presentations, and briefs
