Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for an Assistant Director Clinical Services - ADCS - Inpatient Services & ED to join us in this permanent, full-time role. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. As Mater’s first new public hospital in over 60 years, this state-of-the-art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With 174 public beds, ICU, maternity, emergency and surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Director Clinical Services, the Assistant Director of Clinical Services will be responsible for delivering safe, high-quality patient care while upholding the health care mission and values. The role includes maintaining clinical standards, meeting financial objectives and enhancing patient experience. Collaborating with key stakeholders, the Assistant Director will foster relationships, promote innovation and align with Mater's strategy through engagement with the broader community and professional leaders.
- Establish and maintain systems to support comprehensive patient care and manage risks
- Monitor and analyse performance indicators to identify trends and inform strategic decision-making.
- Lead initiatives to optimise patient flow and access across clinical areas, ensuring effective utilisation of resources and alignment with organisational priorities and service capacity.
- Collaborate on policy development and implementation for clinical services
- Implement governance processes to ensure compliance with clinical standards
- Identify and prioritise clinical practice improvements based on evidence
- Collaborate with external health professionals and community services
- Develop innovative models of clinical care and engage with consumers in care planning
- Drive strategic financial frameworks to meet budget and operational targets
- Monitor compliance with legislation, safety, and quality systems
- Provide leadership aligned with Mater's strategy and ensure staff accountability and performance
About you
To be successful in this role you will require AHPRA nursing registration AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and Tertiary qualifications in health management, business or related disciplines.
- Comprehensive understanding of public and private health systems
- Sound knowledge of contemporary models of care
- Foundation in data analysis and research interpretation
- Sound knowledge of quality improvement methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to provide clinical, financial & operational leadership
