About the role

Mater Private Hospital Brisbane has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Perioperative Theatre team as a Scrub/Scout on a permanent full-time 38 hours per week or part-time 32 hours per week basis.

Located at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane, this is an excellent opportunity to work in a contemporary perioperative environment that supports complex surgical care, professional growth, and exceptional patient experiences. Salary range: $41.74 - $53.53 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

As a perioperative Registered Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and patient-focused care within the operating theatre. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to positive surgical outcomes while maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert scrub and scout nursing care across a variety of surgical procedures
  • Delivering holistic, patient-centred care with consideration for physical, emotional, and individual patient needs
  • Maintaining compliance with infection control standards, clinical policies, and safety protocols
  • Working collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and perioperative colleagues to support seamless theatre workflows
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement
  • Supporting a positive team environment that reflects Mater’s Mission, Values, and commitment to excellence

About you

You are a confident and capable perioperative nurse with a strong foundation in scrub and scout practice, who enjoys working in a fast-paced theatre setting and takes pride in delivering high-quality patient care.

You will bring:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • A minimum of four years’ post-graduate experience working as a scrub/scout Registered Nurse
  • Demonstrated ability to practice independently within the perioperative environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines
  • A commitment to patient safety, professional standards, and ongoing learning and development
