Clinical Nurse – Recovery Stage 1 & Recovery Stage 2 positions available

About the role

Mater Private Hospital Townsville has an opportunity for an experienced Recovery Nurse to join the Perioperative team. The successful applicants will secure a 12month fixed term contract covering maternity leave. We have 2 positions vacant across Recovery Stage 1 & recovery Stage 2.

Our Perioperative Services department at Mater Private Hospital Townsville (MPHT) provides surgical services across 16 theatres and caters for adults and paediatrics with a variety of surgical specialities. MPHT boasts brand new state of the art theatre facilities, a catheterization laboratory and separate onsite day site surgery facilities.

Salary range: $54.21 - $58.08 per hour plus superannuation and up to $15,900 salary packaging annually

What you’ll be doing

As an experience clinical nurse, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient and effective service is provided to patients and Visiting Medical Officer’s within Perioperative Services.

  • Be a role-model in all aspects of leadership and promote a positive team culture within the unit
  • Leadership and coordination of the Day Surgery unit
  • Demonstrate professionalism at all times
  • Provision and coordination of care including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care
  • Monitoring outcomes and initiating/advocating changes to processes and practices
  • Participating in the review, development and implementation of relevant policies, procedures and clinical protocols
  • Participates and promotes clinical meetings in a multidisciplinary setting

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Relevant qualifications and Registration with AHPRA
  • A minimum of 3-4 years’ recent experience as a Stage 1or Stage 1 Recovery Nurse.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded although not essential
  • Have knowledge and experience in Theatres, anaesthetics and or recovery
  • Prior comparable experience in a leadership/supervisory role in a health care environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong knowledge of continuous improvement process, coupled with the proven ability to initiate, coordinate and evaluate quality improvement measures
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Workplace Health and Safety, Infection Control and Clinical Risk policies are also of value.
