About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane is looking for an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Urology Nurse to join our Urology team in the Prostate Cancer Specialist role, providing leave cover for a 6-month fixed term contract.
This is an exciting full-time opportunity, where you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional care and support to patients diagnosed with prostate cancer across the continuum of care. This role will see you work alongside a passionate team committed to excellence in urological health and patient outcomes.
The Prostate Cancer Specialist nurse has exceptional experience in Urology nursing, demonstrating the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team providing support and clinical leadership across Mater Health Brisbane.
Salary range: $66.86 - $72.59 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing specialty-specific support and resources to patients diagnosed with Prostate cancer throughout the continuum of care
- Providing support, mentorship and advice to nursing teams across the inpatient and outpatient setting to ensure high quality patient care for men diagnosed with prostate cancer
- Work within the Multidisciplinary Team to ensure consistent patient outcomes between the various streams
- Liaise with scheduler/s to ensure appropriate timing procedure/surgery dates of patients who are deemed ready for care
- Coordinating care throughout the patient journey ensuring access to services and appropriate follow-up in place
- Establishes priorities for resolution of identified health needs in consultation with the patient or group of patients
- Acts as a patient advocate ensuring patients are informed and consent is gained prior to treatment, assisting/negotiating sensitively with patients where there may be barriers to understanding
About you
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- High levels of communication skills when liaising with patients, families and staff within professional, legal and ethical parameters
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of optimal patient outcomes
- Current registration with AHPRA as a registered nurse (no restrictions)
- At least 5 years surgical/urological/oncology nursing experience
- Demonstrated clinical leadership skills
- Exceptional organisational and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development of yourself and staff members
- Ability to contribute to departmental research activities
