About the role
Mater Pathology has an exciting opportunity for an Anatomical Pathologist to join our team in an expanding department. The successful applicant will secure Permanent Full-Time employment where you will work a 40 hour work week Monday – Friday.
Our department comprises a medium-sized dynamic and collegiate group of subspecialised pathologists servicing general practitioners, hospital-based clinicians and private specialist clinics in South-East Queensland. There are plans to expand into Central and Northern Queensland and to other Mater facilities in greater Brisbane, such as Mater Springfield Public Hospital, which is under construction. This opportunity suits an Anatomical Pathologist wishing to practise in a stimulating tertiary hospital environment. You will be based at the South Brisbane campus, supported as part of a comprehensive team, working with complex, challenging cases and established clinical teams to support world-class, high-quality patient care. Mater Pathology has a strong tradition of providing high-level diagnostic services in the fields of breast and gynaecological, dermatopathology, lung, gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, renal, neuropathology, lymphomas, uropathology, paediatric and perinatal medicine, with expected growth in most of these areas as soon as Mater Springfield Public Hospital opens in January 2026.
Mater Pathology has an extensive 10-year plan to expand its services within Queensland. This plan has commenced with a replacement LIS to modernise our daily operations and workflows as well as improve the quality of histopathology reports going out to our referrers. The laboratory is also investing in digital pathology to improve service delivery within SE Queensland and regionally. We have ongoing partnerships with industry vendors and researchers in the digital pathology space. Mater supports research and education in your field of expertise and encourages this as part of your employment opportunity. The intended integration of women's cancer services with better support and integration of clinical research presents new and exciting opportunities and partnerships in these areas.
