About the role
Mater Private Hospital Townsville is seeking a Speech Pathologist to join our dedicated Allied Health team. The successful applicant will secure permanent, part time employment working 12 hours a week across 3 days.
As an Speech Pathologist you will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high level services to patients of Mater Private Hospital Townsville. You may contribute to the service development and overall operation with deployment across inpatient wards (ICU, Surgical, Medical, Cardiac, Orthopaedics and Women’s unit), our Rehabilitation programs (inpatient and day services), and Cardiac Rehab; across Pimlico and Hyde Park sites. You will also have access to support from dietitian senior and statewide speech group at Mater.
Salary range: $43.68 - $58.59 per hour (HP3) plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will deliver high-quality speech pathology services as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team. You will assess patients, develop tailored treatment plans, and provide evidence-based interventions to optimise outcomes. The position involves supporting adults with a range of conditions, including those with dysphagia, and contributing to clinical improvements and service development. With opportunities to engage in case conferences, discharge planning, and continuous quality initiatives, your work will directly enhance patient care and recovery.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A recognised degree in Speech and Language Pathology, eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)
- Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) status (full or provisional)
- Demonstrated experience in managing adult dysphagia
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Compassionate, motivated professional who is committed to delivering patient-centred care.
- A commitment to professional development and evidence-based practice
- Desired not essential:
- Experience includes competencies in laryngectomy and tracheostomy management
