Mater Mothers Hospital is looking for Registered Midwives to join the team in a mixture of permanent and fixed term-roles. These roles will commence on 18 Nov and 1 December 2024 and will be in our Birth Suites and Inpatient units. Please note, you must be available for all shifts in Nov 2024, Dec 2024 and January 2025

Our experienced, caring team is here to guide you every step of the way, from preconception, pregnancy and birth, right through to caring for your newborn.   • Mater’s state-of-the art Maternal Fetal Medicine service which is internationally renowned as a leader in providing holistic, evidence based care to women with high-risk or complex pregnancies
  • Queensland’s first purpose build Mater Mothers’ Pregnancy Assessment Centre where you can access private, specialist emergency maternity care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, if you experience complications or concerns at any time during your pregnancy
  • a bespoke and flexible antenatal education program to inform and empower you as you prepare for the birth of your baby, and the early weeks that follow. Our classes are presented by experienced midwives and physiotherapists who are skilled in childbirth education and women’s health. We also offer a 2.5 hour first aid course specifically for parents with babies
  • anaesthetists and obstetric medicine specialists onsite, should complications arise while you are in hospital. A fully staffed onsite operating theatre and adult intensive care unit provides around the clock emergency care for peace of mind
  • Australia’s largest private Neonatal Critical Care Unit which includes an intensive care unit for babies who are born with extreme prematurity or require lifesaving care, and
  • our Parenting Support Centre offering free expert parenting support and guidance, including breastfeeding support, sleeping and settling…etc for Mater parents up to six months after the birth of your baby.
  • The Caring Continues options have been designed to offer support, and a little luxury. We've created packages that you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home, as well as a luxurious option at Emporium Hotel South Bank.

What you’ll be doing

This role requires an enthusiastic and dedicated midwife to provide exceptional midwifery care, proficiency in coordinating, assessing, risk management and communication within a multidisciplinary framework. It is a fantastic chance to become part of a highly skilled and professional team, utilising your enthusiasm and midwifery passion for the delivery of best practice within a supportive and professional environment.

This opportunity will utilise your expertise in caring for women and families and your ability to work in partnership. You will enjoy demonstrating your excellent communication skills and building relationships to ensure exceptional family-centred care.

About you

You need to be an enthusiastic and motivated midwife who is passionate about delivering exceptional care. We are looking for someone who has a clear understanding of evidence-based midwifery practice and can bring energy and experience to the Midwifery Team.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Current registration with AHPRA (no restrictions)
  • At least one year post graduate experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and clinical problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued quality improvement and best practice principles.
  • Evidence of continuing educational and professional development
  • Demonstrated ability to role model the Mater mission and values.
