Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for a Nurse Unit Manager, Emergency Department to join us in a permanent full-time role. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Salary range: $71.42 - $76.80 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will:
- Provide operational/clinical management and leadership to the Emergency Department in partnership with nursing, medical, allied health and administrative teams
- Identifying and implementing opportunities for clinical service development and improvement in collaboration with the Patient Care Manager and General Manager
- Achieve optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care across Mater Health
- Maintain current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
- Developing, improving and monitoring systems and processes to ensure service is managed effectively and efficiently
- Professional line management of the nursing team
- Leading by example to provide high level clinical care for our patients
- Utilising expert level communication strategies to guide the team in achieving the unit’s goals
About you
- 5 years post-graduate specialty nursing experience, preferable in the unit’s specialties
- Current AHPRA nursing registration with no restrictions
- Solid understanding of private health care
- Proven use of exceptional communication skill to motivate and lead a team to achieve goals
- Strong change management skills and influencing/negotiating experience
- Excellent time management skills
- Demonstrated competence in cost centre management
- Willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
