Paediatrician

Apply now Job no: 501158
Work type: Permanent
Location: South Brisbane, Springfield, Townsville
Categories: Medical Officers

Mater is seeking an enthusiastic qualified General Paediatrician to join the team in a full-time, permanent appointment.

The position is suitable for a general paediatrician wishing to work in both a public and private setting without the burden of needing to run their own practice and would likely appeal to an early-career specialist seeking collegiate support on their journey to independent private practice.

This unique role presents paediatricians the opportunity to work alongside expert neonatologists in Mater Mothers Hospitals Brisbane, Australia’s largest maternity facility, as well as working on rotation at Mater Mothers facilities in Springfield and Townsville.

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of comprehensive family-centred developmental care to babies born at Mater Mothers Hospitals Brisbane.  You will be involved in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, teaching sessions, journal club, grand rounds, quality audit and research.  When rotating to Mater Mother’s Hospitals Springfield and Townsville you will provide specialist consulting in the private practice rooms, undertake rounds of any inpatients, and contribute to on-call for maternity services.  Whilst the model does present the Mater Paediatrician with the opportunity to learn how to run a private practice, each private practice is professionally managed.

For those interested, the full-time position will include support to assist Mater Paediatricians to take greater advantage of opportunities at any of our Mater Mothers Hospitals (either in an employed or private practice arrangement). The salary package includes a private practice supplementary benefit, as well as generous compensation for time away from home, and for any private practice on-call.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Registration as a Medical Practitioner without conditions, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Specialist registration: Paediatrics and Child Health – General Paediatrics
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) or equivalent
  • Completed Advanced Training in General Paediatrics with the RACP or equivalent
  • Experience in providing evidence-based family-centred general paediatric care, including in SCN, birthing, postnatal and outpatient settings
