Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time (38 hours per week, Monday-Friday) 

Salary: Competitive salary commensurate with experience, with generous not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900

About the Role

Mater Private Hospital is seeking a Principal Medical Education Officer (PMEO) to lead the development of our medical education program. This role is essential to ensuring the continuous improvement and accreditation of education for prevocational doctors.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with the Mater Medical Education team to design, enhance, and maintain high-quality medical education programs.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with accreditation standards for prevocational doctors and staff training, working closely with relevant Hospital & Health Services.
  • Provide expert advice on medical education strategy to senior leadership, including the Director of Medical Education & Workforce, Directors of Clinical Training, and other executive officers.
  • Lead accreditation processes in partnership with local healthcare facilities and broader networks.
  • Manage key relationships with stakeholders, including Queensland Health (QHealth) hospitals and medical education units.
  • Co-ordinate and plan teaching content according to accreditation and facility requirements
  • Support and provide advocacy for the prevocational doctors within the program
  • Co-ordinate the prevocational doctor orientation program

About you

We are looking for a professional with a passion for developing educational programs, strong strategic capabilities, and a focus on compliance and standards. Ideal candidates will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Health, or a related discipline (a clinical background is desirable but not essential).
  • High-level communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in accreditation standards and policies affecting medical education.
  • A solid understanding of adult learning theories and practices, including e-learning and interprofessional education.
  • Proficiency in using data to drive program improvements and evaluate outcomes.
