About the role

Mater Private Hospital Springfield (MPHS) Theatre team have an opportunity for enthusiastic, experienced, and motivated Operating Theatre Assistants (Theatre Orderly) to work within the Procedural Services team, in a permanent part time 28 hours per week. 

The position of Operating Theatre Assistant will see you provide a quality and safe service as a part of MPHS's Procedural Suites care for adult, obstetric and Paediatric patients requiring surgical intervention.

Salary range: $30.48 - $33.05 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

As an integral member of the team, you will:

  • Prepare operating rooms for surgical cases
  • Cleaning operating rooms and maintaining equipment after each case in accordance with infection control procedures
  • Undertake positioning of patients utilising manual handling principles

About you

To be successful in your application for this position:

Essential

  • Strong work ethic
  • Able to work in a team
  • Available to do shift work weekdays and weekends
  • Strong desire in helping people

Desirable

  • Currently hold a Certificate III in Health Care Support (Operating Theatre Practice) or Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
  • Minimum of two years previous experience in an Operating Theatre Assistant role would be highly desirable. 

You will also have excellent communication skills and knowledge of medical terminology, as well as demonstrated knowledge of Theatre equipment and the ability to work well independently under minimal supervision.
